Spring Essentials Checklist

Spring is probably my favorite season. It always feels like it’s the start of a new chapter after a cold winter, so I just love it. As you probably guessed, I’m also a fan because it’s an opportunity to break out some of my worst-worn and favorite pieces in my closet. Everyone approaches spring differently from a style perspective, though. For example, it’s usually a time when you see tons of new trends emerging, and it’s tempting to want to go out and buy them all. I totally understand, trust me. And I’ve definitely made a few purchases recently, but before you buy anything trendy, make sure you have everything on my spring essentials checklist below.

A good trench
The trench coat is an absolute spring staple. Its classic style and silhouette will never go out of style. I love my H&M trench and it looks so much more expensive than it is. Go for the classic khaki color so you can pair it with anything, but I also suggest picking one up in a fun color or print like this plaid one.

Lightweight dresses
I know spring is famous for florals and pastels, which I absolutely love, but make sure you have a nice mix of neutral printed silky dresses in your wardrobe as well. Even if they aren’t white, stick to that goes with a lot. You’ll be able to wear these dresses over and over again paired with jean jackets, blazers and trench coats throughout the season. Purchased this zebra print dress recently and it’s available here!

Kitten Heel Sandals
The right height sandals are key during spring, especially if you walk a lot or have to hop from meeting to meeting. Again, I recommend sticking with something on the lower side and also something neutral like black or white so you can get the most wear out of them. I like to have at least a go-to black pair and then a pair in the tan family. This way no matter what my outfit is, I always have a good pair of sandals to throw on. I love these By Far ones so much from Net-A-Porter.

Cropped trousers
Whether you prefer a wide leg or tapered, be sure to have a few pairs of cropped trousers hanging in your closet. These are an absolute must if you work in the corporate world, but can also be styled more casually for weekends and after hours. Pick up a few of your classic colors like black and navy, but I think hunter green or clay brown color is really fun too. I love these black high waist ones from H&M.

Did I skip anything you consider a must for your spring wardrobe? Tell me what your favorite items are for this time of year!
