Hotel Indigo | Old Town Alexandria

Think global, but buy local. Well, that’s usually the mindset these days with food, but how about travel? With the busy summer travel season, who wants to battle crowds at airports, flight delays, and packed planes? Sometimes, it’s wiser and just easier to staycate. The amenities and pampering are the same, and with less time on the road, there’s more time to relax and engage in great activities. And with this in mind, the Fourth of the July was the best opportunity to enlist a staycation at Old Town Alexandria’s stunning Hotel Indigo. Just walking distance to shops, great restaurants, the city’s best ice cream parlor, this waterfront hotel is a must stay.

We stayed at Hotel Indigo during 4th of July weekend so it was the perfect time to take in all the sites, amenities, and great food. We started our stay with a long walk along the water then hopped over to King Street for some good eats, given how close the hotel is to surrounding shops and restaurants.  After enjoying a nice dinner at Hanks Oyster Bar (seafood is a must while staying in Old Town) we made our way to get some ice cream at the infamous Kilwin’s – needless to say it was delicious.

When we got back to our room, we were able to enjoy a beautiful sunset view right from our bedroom. With the comfiest beds and chicest bathrooms, we were well rested and ready to indulge in some brunch at the hotel restaurant the next morning – mmm the french toast was amazing!

Overall it was a wonderful little mini vacation. The hotel property is in the perfect location right in the middle of all the action but still quite enough to enjoy water front views and relax.
