How to Take A Break | Managing Stress | Style MBA

Wellness is not about perfection. It’s about mindfulness and moderation. Mindfulness is all about having compassion for the people around you and for yourself. Moderation is all about finding balance. But when you have a busy life, having compassion for yourself can be a task, and finding balance can seem impossible. In a stressful day, week, or month it often feels difficult to take a breath and remind yourself that you’re allowed to feel exhausted or frustrated. Reminding yourself of these things, however, is crucial to your wellness because they let you know when you need to take a break! But what exactly are the steps of pulling yourself away from the stress of work and life? Here are a few tips on how to take a break that have helped me manage stress over the years!

Step 1: Acknowledge your Limits

Pushing yourself to be your best is a wonderful way to live life. However, it is always important to respect the boundaries of your mind and body. If you feel physically exhausted or emotionally drained, you deserve a break! Take notice and give yourself some off-time.

Step 2: Make Time for Yourself

Once you acknowledge that you need a break, you have to make time for the break! ;) I know this can be a challenge. So, if you lead a busy life, there’s absolutely nothing wrong with scheduling personal days in advance. Pick a few days out of the year and mark them on your calendar as days of rest and relaxation. It’s  a great way to force yourself to recharge.

Step 3: Tune Out

Yes, I am suggesting you go phone-less, but only temporarily! Putting your phone aside can make a huge impact on your stress levels. Constantly receiving notifications, texts, and news alerts takes up emotional energy. Try reading a book before bed instead of scrolling on your phone. Try stretching or meditation in the morning instead of immediately checking your Instagram. Go to your local coffee shop without your phone. A phone-less break can truly be the least stressful type of break.

One of my favorite ways to destress is to take a full day for myself! Get my nails done, pedi, facial, hai.r.. whatever it may be. It really does help to pamper yourself!!

Sooo important to take time for yourself! It’s so hard to do it all and we shouldn’t expect that of ourselves. Loved this post babe!
