How To Wear Spring & Summer Prints | Nordstrom

Taking on spring and summer prints can be a challenge, but it’s one well worth taking! Bright prints and patterns are a staple throughout all seasons, but incorporating them into your spring wardrobe can seem a bit more daunting than in the fall. In the warmer months, you’re working with brighter colors that are more prone to clashing and competing than the cool neutral colors of fall. But, just because it’s daunting, doesn’t mean it’s not possible! Thanks to Nordstrom’s wide array of spring and summer prints, here are a few tips on how to wear bold prints.

Have a Full Vision

If you see a bold print, I always say, go for it! Just make sure you have a full vision when it comes to your outfit. Think about the bold piece as one part of a cohesive fashion vision. If you’re wearing a printed blouse, make sure your shoes,  jewelry, and even the hardware on your purse-of-the-day compliment the colors in the print instead of competing with them. For example, I complimented this dress with blush accessories.

Embrace the Power of Neutrals

Neutral spring colors like white, navy, beige, and grey are secret weapons when it comes to wearing print. Adding a neutral component to a look that features a print is a great way to make the print stand out without making the statement piece seem out of place. Neutral components add a beautiful balance to any outfit that features a print.

Yes, you can Mix Prints!

I’m a firm believer in mixing prints; it’s just something that needs to be done with care! Embrace juxtaposition and avoid mixing prints that are too similar. For example, try not to pair a striped top with a striped bottom. In the same vein, try to avoid pairing a really colorful print top with a really colorful print bottom. Instead go for a mix of prints and make sure one print features neutral colors to balance out the bolder, more colorful print!

Take Risks

Wearing spring and summer prints is one of those fashion risks that everyone should take. Making mistakes is one of the best ways to learn, even in fashion! Learn from the outfits you didn’t love and be proud of the looks that turned out even better than you thought.
