Top 5 Time Management Tips

Blogger Style MBA shares her Top 5 Management Tips

Hectic schedules are part of life. Managing time and striking that perfect (or oftentimes imperfect) balance between work, family, and friends is a constant exercise and thankfully, something that we can always get better at! Throughout my career from working a traditional 9-to-5 to running Style MBA from my home, I have learned what works best for me when it comes to time management. Here are my top 5 time management tips that I hope will work for you guys as well!

Hard Work is Smart Work

You know what they say: single-tasking is the new multi-tasking. Dedicating all of your focus to one task at a time boosts productivity and will increase the quality of your work. The challenging part is deciding how much time to spend on each task. So, prioritize with care and you’ll get what you need to get done done, with the best results possible!

Take Care of Your Health

Even among a never-ending list of things you need to get done, remember that sleep is important. Prioritizing your health, from sleep to fitness to nutrition, will allow you to stay sharp and work effectively.

Set Realistic Goals

Plan for unexpected phone-calls and other interruptions in your work flow. They happen and that’s OK. Whether you’re planning a busy day or your entire week, make sure to schedule reasonable breaks in between tasks and meetings.

Manage your Distractions

This is especially important for those of you who work in offices! Unless you need to use social media for business, log-out during the workday! Look forward to being plugged in on your lunch break, but avoid checking Facebook and IG while you’re working; chances are you’re spending more time on these platforms than you realize.

Learn to Say ‘No’

This is especially important for those of you who work for yourselves! You’re allowed to be selective. Say ‘No’ to projects that don’t seem worthwhile or that don’t align with your brand. And when it comes to time management in general, being selective is an important tool. Say ‘No’ to less-than-important phone-calls if you’ve hit a good stride in your workday, and say no to distractions that you can easily avoid!

I love that you included taking care of your health. Mental health as well. I think it’s so easy to completely push aside how you feel as opposed to how well you’re doing in life. We can’t do our best if we don’t feel our best! Great tips!!

I think dedicating your time and concentration to one task at a time is really clever as well, when I try to multi-task I just end up getting barely anything done in the end.
